What convinced you Xealth is “the Place to Be”?
After leaving Epic to move to Chicago, I knew I wanted to stay in the healthcare industry because I wanted to continue working on interesting problems that helped people. I was looking at healthcare startups and Xealth came up on my radar. After interviewing with a few of the companies, I was most impressed with the Xealth engineers who interviewed me (Eric, Annlin, and Aaron M). There was a feeling that I could learn quite a bit from them and push myself to be a better engineer through working with them. I absolutely love the team here!
What has your experience been with our company culture?
My experience with the company culture has been a blast especially when I’ve met everyone in person. In my first few months, I got to know Angelo really well and we ended up spending a month in Utah together working remote and skiing in a record breaking snow season. Now he’s one of my best friends and we just wrapped up another awesome season together. If you didn’t know or couldn’t predict it, Angelo is a crazy driver, needs to FaceTime his dogs for at least an hour a day when he’s not with them, and he’s reached an expert level of skiing in about two years (I might’ve pushed him a little bit too much a few times but he didn’t break anything).
What have been your biggest accomplishments on our team?
My biggest accomplishments have been working with the Shrek (now Swamp Things) team to implement medication conditions and datasets, special development for legacy migrations (especially UPMC), and doing whatever I can to keep our customers happy.
Who are some of your biggest inspirations within the company?
My biggest inspirations in the company are probably all of my teammates on Swamp Things: Annlin, Aaron M, Quan, Kevin, Katya, and Jake.
What’s the most unique part about working here?
The most unique part about working here is that Aaron’s bird Momo always has the most insightful comments and thought-provoking questions during our meetings.
How have you grown professionally while on our team?
I’ve grown quite a bit professionally in my familiarity with modern architecture, domain-driven design patterns, and agile. My time at Epic had me working with a somewhat antiquated stack and a waterfall approach. Xealth also touches a lot of different business cases in the healthcare industry so I’ve learned quite a bit about the business-end of things in healthcare.
