This fall, I and my team hit the road in force. While each conference or forum has a different vibe, common themes emerged around the reality for AI, the future for health equity, and the continued desire to make life easier for everyone. Here’s a summary of these themes, and a quick note about how they align with Xealth’s core value proposition of driving impactful, integrated digital health solutions.
1. AI Integration – Moving from Hype to Practicality
At HLTH, there was a noticeable shift in conversations about AI, transitioning from speculative possibilities to what real action can look like for AI to play a real role in healthcare. Daniel Barchi of CommonSpirit Health and Kaveh Safavi from Accenture both highlighted the need for “rational exuberance” around AI – applying it in ways that simplify clinicians’ tasks rather than add complexity.
Xealth’s Role: Xealth embodies this practicality by embedding digital health solutions, including AI-powered tools, directly within the EHR. By integrating these solutions seamlessly, we eliminate workflow disruption, allowing clinicians to leverage the power of AI and other digital tools without leaving their primary systems.
2. Health Equity as a Priority
Sessions at both conferences highlighted the need to create equitable healthcare experiences. Tina Esposito of Advocate Health emphasized the responsibility to bridge gaps in healthcare access, especially through tools that reach traditionally underserved populations.
Xealth’s Role: Xealth’s platform supports equitable access by giving providers an easy-to-use infrastructure to prescribe digital health resources directly to patients. This allows providers to offer consistent, accessible health guidance to every patient, whether they’re managing chronic conditions at home or need specialized resources tailored to diverse populations.
3. Seamless Integration into Clinical Workflows, e.g. Ambient Dictation
A critical focus at Becker’s conference was the need for digital tools that integrate into existing workflows. The role of CIOs, as noted by multiple speakers, is rapidly evolving, with increased expectations to select solutions that work “invisibly” within clinicians’ daily tasks. Ambient dictation technologies, which automate documentation, were one example discussed.
There’s no doubt that Ambient dictation, aka as ‘voice scribing’, is here to stay. There are at least 6-8 viable options for vendors. As such, it appears that pricing is racing to zero with some vendors bundling scribing into their other product offerings. You might almost feel sorry for the $20b Microsoft paid to buy Nuance 2yrs ago…but not really as MSFT market cap has gone up by over $1 Trillion in these AI times.
Xealth’s Role: Xealth’s platform is designed to fit effortlessly into clinical workflows. By making digital health tools and prescribed resources available within the EHR, Xealth reduces administrative burden and maximizes clinician time with patients. Our approach ensures that digital health adoption is a natural part of the care continuum, not an add-on that requires clinicians to step outside their daily workflow.
4. Remote Monitoring and Virtual Care Expansion
Both conferences underscored the growing demand for virtual and at-home care. At HLTH, leaders discussed how remote monitoring can be used to manage chronic diseases effectively, while Becker’s highlighted the operational challenges that health systems face in scaling these models.
Xealth’s Role: Remote monitoring is one of Xealth’s core competencies. Xealth’s recognition in remote monitoring by AVIA Marketplace reflects its commitment to facilitating the deployment and management of remote monitoring tools, extending care beyond traditional settings. Xealth’s infrastructure also supports the scalability of virtual care, helping health systems reach more patients while maintaining care quality and consistency.
5. Cross-Industry Collaboration for Enhanced Patient Engagement
Sessions at HLTH particularly focused on the importance of partnerships between healthcare providers and tech innovators. For instance, our Chief Strategy Officer, Cynthia Church, as well as her co-panelists spoke on leveraging their platforms to help health systems enhance patient engagement through advanced data analytics and personalized digital tools.
“We need to be willing to take risks, not just as organizations, but as individuals every day seeking to find the best solutions for patients.” – Cynthia Church – Chief Strategy Officer, Xealth
Xealth’s Role: Xealth has always valued collaboration as a pathway to impactful digital health experiences. Our platform connects health systems with a diverse array of digital health vendors, allowing them to prescribe curated tools that resonate with each patient’s unique needs. This focus on collaboration enables Xealth to deliver a flexible, adaptable solution that keeps pace with technological advances in patient engagement.
Conclusion: Driving the Future of Digital Health
The themes from Becker’s, HLTH 2024, Oracle Health Conference as well as several other private events illustrate a healthcare ecosystem in transformation, one that increasingly demands integrated, patient-centered, and scalable digital solutions. Xealth is uniquely positioned to address these needs by serving as the bridge that connects providers, patients, and digital health resources seamlessly. As the industry continues to innovate, Xealth remains committed to making digital health integral to the care process, empowering clinicians to provide meaningful, efficient, and impactful care.
These conferences underscored that the future of healthcare lies in harmonizing advanced technology with human-centered care. Xealth’s platform supports this vision, ensuring that as healthcare becomes more digital, it also becomes more accessible, equitable, and responsive to patient needs.
